Worst Tendonitis

What is the worst case of elbow or shoulder tendonitis that you have ever had?
I one had shoulder tendonitis so bad that I couldn’t lift my arm. Needless to say, I was out for a while; 6 weeks to be exact.

I’ve personally never experienced tendonitis. Sounds like it would be no fun though.

I’ve never experienced tendonitis either, but I can tell you it’s no fun at all. Let me tell you a horror story about it, and for this we go back to the early 1950s. In the World Series of 1951 Ed Lopat pitched two games and won them both, with an ERA of 0.50—but at the end of the second game he suddenly found he couldn’t lift his arm. The weather may have had something to do with it; it had been cold and rainy through much of the Series. Anyhoo, he couldn’t lift his arm—couldn’t even throw the ball—and so he started the 1952 season on the shelf, which he didn’t like at all because he wanted to pitch, was what he wanted to do, and the doctors couldn’t figure out what the trouble was. But then he suddenly remembered an orthopedic surgeon whom he had known in Chicago during his tenure with the White Sox, and he flew out there to see him. THe doctor examined him and said "Eddie, you have tendinitis in your left shoulder!"
After chewing him out for not having taken care of the problem sooner, the doctor prescribed what was then a radical treatment—a series of ten X-rays to that shoulder. Radical, yes—unheard of—but it worked, and when Lopat returned to New York he found that he was pitching better than ever. He ran up a record of 33-8 from that moment until the start of the 1955 season.Nowadays doctors, particularly sports-medicine specialists and orthopedic surgeons, know a lot more about this problem and how to handle it. 8)

For about 25 games I had it pretty bad in the shoulder and there was probably a chewed up ligament too. Just crossing my arms was uncomfortable.

I had it in my elbow/tricep and it was no fun at all. On days i tried to throw i couldnt even lift my arm afterwards. I spent most of last season playing first base.
