Worst/Nastiest Injury You Have Had?

I have two that could take the cake:

1- I was 13, and i was pitching. 8 pitches into the first inning I threw a fastball , and about halfway through the throw, the muscles in my arm Ripped off a piece of my elbow. Its called an Avulsion Fracture and it was a freak injury. The surgeon said it was because “the muscles in the arm were to strong for the bone” and i was “too explosive for my age”. Had re-constructive surgery 2 days later, fixed as good as new. Also, I went into a coma from the knockout drugs, but woke after 5 extra hours.

2- About 2 months ago, i was in the cage taking some swings (i am also 1st baseman) at my travel team practice and on my last swing, my foot jammed into the turf, and my leg rolled foward and i got a full Dislocation of my left kneecap. The kneecap was stuck on the outside of my leg, and i was rolling on the floor, yelling and cussing. An ambulance had to be called, and 5 shots of Morphine and 2 shots of Valium later, they could still hardly move me. The Doctor at the hospital than told me he was gona straighten my leg, i said okay (i didnt know what he meant). So one doc grabs my ankle and yanks it, and the other about punches my kneecap back into place. Again, i started cussing. The final damage was a severe strain of the MCL and bruised cartilage. No surgury required, but they said that it hurt as much as it did because the MCL didnt tear, and it was just pulled to its fullest extent. They also said that they are suprised i didnt pass out and go into shock. Ive been in physical therapy for 35 days, and was just cleared by the Knee Specialist to play in the season, which starts next week. Now i have to get full clearance from the trainer and i am all set. BTW, i threw my first bullpen today since the injury. The docs and trainers are amazed at my recovery. (So am I, I usually am a very slow healer).

My worst was I was throwing a bullpen and I went to flip a curveball and I felt a horrible pop in my elbow. Needless to say I couldnt throw for crap after that. Also later that week I had a try out at a school I attended. I threw for them anyways after all week of massage and ice and more massage. I was clocked at 83 with a bad elbow. I threw strikes and all my pitches where going great, they loved what they saw from me. Then after that when I got home I couldnt throw a baseball 20 feet. SERIOUSLY! It was the worst pain ever. I had that from April 05 to July 05. I was going down to school that August. I started throwing on July 1st and started at 15 throws that couldnt make it, like I said 20 feet. Slowly built back up my arm. It hurt so much to throw though but it was definitly what was needed. Ended up with full recovery within a week of school starting. Since I didnt mention it, it was a horrible case of tendinitis.

My tip to guys who have had injuries. Especially tendinitis ones. You have to build some strength back up with exercises. Mostly corrective exercise. Then you have to start throwing again going slow and working on just adding some more reps in. I went from 15 pitches to 20 the next week to 25 the next. Then I backed off and went back to 15 and tried to throw alittle harder. It was a slow process it hurt like hell, but you have to grunt through it and take care of the injury. If you just baby it, it will never get better. You have to work it for it to adapt and get stronger. BUT BE SMART.

The worst injury I got was a paper cut and a jammed toe (don’t worry I’ll be ok)

hahahaha, your soooo NOT funny.

i’ve had 11 broken bones in my day (5 are baseball related, I believe).

I’ll tell just one of my stories now, and if you want more just ask.

I was playing catch on the sidelines during a baseball game in 7th grade. I turn to watch the game for a second, holding my hand up to signal to the other guy not to throw. Just then I hear “watch out!” and turn towards my partner, catching a face full of baseball. I ended up with a broken upper cheekbone, and I was lucky it didn’t hit my eye. Blood was all over the place, staining my entire uniform. I had to be driven off the sidelines and to the hospital, and my eye was swollen for like a month. I have pictures, it looks hilarious.

post the pics

they’re on another computer, I’ll do it when I get a chance.

My worst was a broken nose on a bad hop when I was playing 1B in HS. There was a big lip on the infield grass and the ball hit that lip and bounced lower than I expected.

I’ve never injured anything except my face. Broken nose, teeth, jaw, cut eye brow

Last night I saw a kid foul a ball full into his face…knocked him for a backward loop, he’s on all fours just watching all the blood run out of his nose and mouth in unison and some idiot from the bench yells…"Are you bleeding?"
This is the first time I’ve ever seen this, it was a fork ball so he was way out in front and the ball dived on his bat trajectory…just about like it was meant to happen…just back of the sweet spot and pow…he’s going to get a ton of crap over it I’m sure…looked wierd as anything.

that happened to a kid on my team except it just left him with a nasty shiner for like a week.

lol… “Are you bleeding???”

In all serious know the worst injury I ever had was a fractured right elbow and a permanent damaged left elbow I got 2 weeks ago the doctor said I’ll never be 100% on my left arm again

Can I make a suggstion???

Go see another doctor, an arm/elbow specialist (like i did when i had reconstructive surgery on my elbow, when i was 13) and ask him about all the options. DO NOT just accept that it wont ever be 100% again, thats a load of horse$hit.
If the most effective option is surgery, you may really want to consider it, or you may, and probably will, pay for it when you are older.

Thats just my 2 cents, but i had reconstructive surgery when i was 13, and i have no regrets to this day. Of course, i am only 18 now, but bcuz of the surgery, i am now able to pitch for my college team

only pitching injury was a sore elbow when i was 12,my coach never taught me mechanics

worst injury i’ve had was a strained achilles. hurts like a mother.

my worst injury ever was a dislocated pinky on my throwing hand. in little league i was taking outfield practice and my coach kept yelling for my to use 2 hands  . well anyway the first time i did idk what happened but the ball just came down on my pinky. that hurt like a b**ch. i still pitched the next day 5 innings. i dont remember if we won or not

1.broke my tooth threw my lip when in warmups at 13 a kid threw the ball when i turned around to help out the 2 people next to me get there ball. had root canal and fake teeth

2.broke my nose at 14 when uncle was throwing high popups and my cheap kmart glove broke through the webbing and ball landed on face. the only baseball photo from all my littleleague years that my mom has was the one takin the next day for picture day.

  1. most recent and still recovering was ACL meniscus(cant spell) tear in right knee while making a play to home, was facing outfield bent down to get ball and rushed standing up and turning to home at same time. knee popped inward with about 4 snaps and i went down. every day including that day all i heard was “well thank got it wasnt your acl because that woulda really hurt”…it did really hurt @#$% couple weeks later i found out
