I have tryouts in about 30 days and just got into strength, finally. I’ve heard the week before you should not do any strength, and just do mobility. Your thoughts?
Kind of depends on your situation but for the most part I’d say train just as hard. Lifting really does not affect performance as much as people assume. I’m not a huge fan of “maintaining” the strength gains you’ve made in the off-season. If you’re a starting pitcher you should have plenty of time on off-days to really get after it in the weight room and continue to make strength gains. Understand your body and what you can handle while still performing at maximum intensity during tryouts. Definitely save the lifting for later in the day instead of immediately before a tryout/practice.
