Will wearing weighted vests help develop core strength?

Just curious on people’s thoughts about wearing weighted vests (20lbs) when doing your workout?
Wearing the vest while doing olympic style lifts, snatch, cleans ?
Wearing the vest during cardio/sprints?
Wearing the vest while throwing/hitting to improve trunk rotational strength?

Any constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The only real benefits would be from wearing one during sprints, or during a bodyweight exercise (pullups, chins, glute ham raises, pushups, etc.). Ross Enamait does some exercises with a weight vest on this video: http://www.rosstraining.com/articles/hardcore.html

I would say only during sprints too. If your just jogging I wouldn’t recommend it because that’s only additional weight pounding on your knees. Throwing and hitting no, olympic lifts no.

I know that it may seem trivial, but make sure that you wear that vest tightly over your torso to the point where it’s comfortably fit. If turns out too loose, it could rub uncomfortably over your body and cause cuts, blisters, other things not to be mentioned by me.
