Will someone explain the point of everybody on here doing all of these weight lifting programs. I understand that you need to be in excellent shape to be a dominant pitcher, but where exactly does being super-strong come in. If you are strong enough to support your body and stay in control of it, than shouldn’t most people on here be doing explosive exercises that involve speed and not as much strength? Or am I wrong?
You need a combination of speed/explosiveness as well strength.
Speaking from personal experience here…My biggest velocity gain came when I gained 30 lbs of muscle over one summer…gained 10 mph. It tends to go hand in hand.

The greater the threshold the more someone can progress in a skill sport.
