When to Pronate?

When do you pronate for the pronator teres absorbs the impact of the pitch? I see Greinke pronates a lot and it looks like he does it pretty late.

All pitchers pronate after ball release regardless of pitch thrown. This happens naturally - you don’t need to think about it.

But if you pronate as extreme as Greinke does will it take more stress of the arm?

Don’t know. But if you’re thinking about that then you’re probably not thinking about hitting your spot and getting the batter out.

My guess is that the degree of pronation you get is probably dictated by your physiological make-up. So, I’d just let it happen naturally.

The question to ask is does Greinke’s pronation happen as a result of other things or is he consciously pronating?

I believe it is happening as a result of his rapid internal rotation after release of the ball.
