What is the max pitch count you would use for 10-11 yr olds?
Guidelines from our local organization, including mandatory days rest:
i. Pitchers may not throw more than 65 pitches in a single game
ii. Pitches Thrown and Days Between Outings
1-34 0 days
35-49 1 days
50-64 2 days
64 3 days
Also…innings pitched must be consecutive, and curve balls are not permitted.
LL rules are 75 for 10-year-olds and 85 for 11’s.
This IMO is a diffucult question. First off you need to follow your league or tournement rules. Then you have to be in tune with your pitchers. Smaller guys will throw less most times than larger framed kids. I have 8 12 year old pitchers and they range from 30 to 75 pitches an outing. At this age you can tell pretty quick with most kids because their accuracy will start to suffer. So learn your players and the limitations of their bodies. Hope this helps.
Here is a interesing article that doesn’t just deal with pitches on a daily or weekly basis but also a yearly basis. “Check it out”
