What am I throwing!?!?!?!

I was tossing a quick flatground earlier this week and I was tinkering around with some grips and pressure points when I gripped a two seam fastball with a wider grip. Not to the extent of a splitfinger I don’t think. I had pressure equal between the two fingers, and my thumb directly underneath. When I threw it I turned my arm in slightly and what i got was a pitch about 9 mph slower than my fastball with down and in movement on a righty. I’m not sure if this is considered a splitfinger, but any tips to better this pitch?

Yes, that is a splitter you’re throwing. Basically, it’s a two-seamer with the index and middle fingers off the seams—not nearly as much as for a forkball. And when you get on a mound and work on that pitch, you’ll find that you can change speeds on it as well. Just remember, don’t grip the ball too tightly, becayse you don’t want to squeeze the juice out of it! 8)
