Okay, so Im not posting for hate mail on lifting and stuff. I just want answers.

For an athlete that weighs 170lbs and is 5’9", what is a good weight to shoot for on bench press. I am kind of new to the athleticism scene, so I just dont know what is good. I didnt even know I was as big as I am until recently.

It all depends on what your goals are and what the purpose of lifting is for

For example a guy going through to become a cop in my area has to be able to bench his weight plus 20lbs. Now his weight training is going to be significantly different then an athlete’s training program.
