Throwing 3 and 4 oz - underweight - baseballs

Has anyone thrown 3 and 4 oz baseballs? Any benefit in using them?

I’ve been told that in being lighter than the standard 5 oz ball, they speed up your arm and teach it to move faster. I’ve also heard they increase the chances of injury.

I think you’ve PMed me about this, but we use them in our weighted baseball training sessions. They definitely might increase stress on the throwing arm, but:

You may find that research interesting. Kinematic speed increased but joint load/kinetics did not for youth baseball pitchers.

What do you think about throwing 4 oz ball in season? I’m a starter pitching every 6th day.

Generally we do not have pitchers throw 4 oz baseballs in-season. Some do, however. It depends.
