The curveball injury myth

http://www.orthosupersite.com/view.asp?rID=29042

I always believed throwing curveballs is not the cause of youth injuries. As the article stated, throwing fastballs cause more injuries than curveballs.

There is no direct evidence that throwing curveballs will injury youth pitchers.

Overuse is the cause of injuries, not the type of pitch you throw.

Overuse and bad mechanics.

Interesting article. Thanks.

a CORRECTLY thrown curveball should do no damage to the arm. but an incorrectly thrown curveball can do loads of damage to the growing elbow.

Any “incorrect” motion done over a long period of time will cause damage. Kids that throw fastballs with bad mechanics over time can do damage.
