Texas Rangers new take on pitching preparation

Here’s a link to an article that was on Baseball America recently:

http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/minors/news/2009/267871.html

Since Nolan Ryan has taken over, the Rangers are emphasizing more long tossing and live BP for pitchers in an effort to challenge them to be more fit. Their new long toss program falls somewhere in between the old 120’ and Alan Jaeger’s push to get guys out beyond 300’…

I personally believe this will start becoming more commonplace, but would love to hear others’ thoughts

Read the same article, and was thinking about posting it. Its a smart move, people are idiots if they havent connected the fact that Ryan worked alot harder, threw alot more, and in turn pitched many more innings and stayed far healthier to these guys who are babied more, throw less innings and are always hurt.

Its about time somebody realized it.
