T - X Days and Counting...What Are You Doing?

OK guys, hope you enjoyed the holidays but party time is over. For many of you, first practice is 30 days away … what are you doing NOW to be the best you can be?

In this thread, please share your daily/weekly schedules leading up to first day of practice.

And words of advice from one that’s been down the road … the only thing in the process you can control is your effort, so get after it now !

Things to consider—

Shot records
Medical appointments for physicals
Watch out for grades - don’t want to be bump’d out by a failing grade!
Got a part time job, other sport, chores at home? The preseason will require attendance that might bite into these things. Don’t want to leave an employer or another sport high-n-dry at the last moment. Mom and dad depending on you to take care of a few things around the house, farm, property?

Start gathering your equipment. Make sure it’s in decent shape, safe to use, and just as dependable as you. Check out the pitcher’s equipment bag below for suggestions:

How many of you HS players or parents actually have read and know what day the 1st day of your spring season is, or are you depending on someone else to tell you what it is? Ours is found in the General Rules of the Bylaws from our state association.

I suggest you look for yourself because you always find something interesting when you do.

Most high school programs have weightlifting and conditioning programs going right through tryouts, get involved with those if you can. Most travel teams have either started working out or are starting in the next couple of weeks to work on strength and conditioning, also pitchers and catchers should start getting some mound time soon. Here in our area we usually have the first tournaments in March, no that far away.
