Some of us may have this glamorous idea of what it is to be a professional baseball player…
What most of you don’t know is how incredibly hard the lifestyle is.
This documentary style tv show follows an independent team around and exposes people to what it is like to be an independent/minor league ball player.
YES you may be surprised to find out that the minor leagues are in fact similar to independent leagues, not only in PAY but in LIFESTYLE
(With exceptions being access to trainers and equipment being much better at the affiliated level of course.)
ANYWAY. I am at that age where I have played against and with hundreds of guys who have been drafted. I myself am starting to get independent teams contacting me about playing.
http://www.playingforpeanuts.com/ is a great show. I love it. I have had some teammates who have been drafted or signed independent who had no idea that their life was going to be that way. Some ended up playing a few seasons and then joined the real world.
If after watching this show you still want to play professional baseball, good for you! I still think it would be worth it myself, but for many it is not.
I do believe the website shows the first couple episodes for free before you have to buy the DVD
