When it comes to pitching instruction and advice there is literally tons out there, including some very good advice offered in this forum. But what about the other aspects of pitching such as holding runners on base and pick-off moves? Are there any good, detailed instructional programs on the market? Anyone know of a good DVD that goes into detail on handling different game situations?
I maintain that the single best way to learn situational knowledge and tips on the finer points of baseball is through experience. Players need to be in situations where they go through things, both good and bad. I find that simply telling a young baseball player what to do in a certain situation is rarely effective; you can give them tips and guidlines on how to react to a situation, but it will never be completely ingrained in them if they do not experience it.
