Rookie League

In here i will keep almost a journal of everything i do.
I just graduated college and I have recently joined my teams rookie league affiliate.

I will try to update at least 3 times a week.

Just some things to start
Everything is your responsibility at this level. You are responsible for working out, getting to the ballpark, eating right etc.
The hitters switching to wood bats considerably helps pitchers at this level.

For eating right i don’t do anything crazy except regular protein shakes after work outs.

I am a starter for now. I will have to change my routine if i start to relieve

Most games the starter will only pitch 4 innings. Maybe 5.

I normally have 6 days in between starts

Some things I do:
Day after I pitch i do a very intense leg workout.
Day before I pitch i do i very light workout and stretch a lot.
I throw every day except for after i pitch

2 days after i pitch i will have a light bullpen session
2 days before i pitch i will have a regular bullpen session

I try to follow the same schedule every week. I work out in some capacity every day. I don’t eat out at all, i don’t make that much money.

Things I’m working on(In no particular order):

  1. Improve my slider
  2. Throw slider to lefties
  3. Keep walks down
  4. Improve fastball command
  5. Pickoff move

Ok here is my weekly schedule:

Day 1: Pitch in a game

Day 2: Leg work out
10 x 100 yd sprints. sprint 100 yards, walk back, repeat
10 suicides. 5 yrd intervals up to 20 yards
After the first set its 15 push ups
After the second set 25 squats
Third set is 10 burpies
Repeat the above and there is nothing after the 10th set

Day 3: Bullpen session
I probably warm up for at least an hour before i start throwing.
Medium long toss
Bullpen session

Day 4: Gym session
Ill post weekly about what i do on day 4

Day 5: Bullpen session
Long warm up
Long toss
Bullpen session

Day 6: Rest?
Keep the muscles loose by doing gym reps at about half weight
Stretch, do some yoga.

Repeat as desired.

So you repeat all the above 10 times and thats your workout?

So you repeat all the above 10 times and thats your workout?

No that would be crazy!
After the first, forth, and 7th set i do push ups
After the 2nd 5th and 8th i do squats
After the 3rd 6th and 9th i do burpies

After the 10th set i just rest
