Program Development

Dear Coaches:

If you liked Moneyball by Michael Lewis, coaches you will love Scout’s Honor by Bill Shanks. It is a in-depth look at the scouting approach of the Atlanta Braves. It is incomplete opposite version of the A’s scouting approach. I was just looking on Chris O’Leary’s blog talking about a player’s makeup, as I was reading this book. Mr. O’Leary talks about a players make up being one key to their development. The Atlanta Braves take player’s make up a step further in their decision to draft a HS player or not.

For coaches, it is a great way to look and evaluate on how to build a program. It goes into detail about how the Braves took development of players to a whole new level compared to other MLB clubs. It is a must read for coaches that are building a program!
