It is so true that 12-16 year olds are all over the map with their development. They struggle to keep up coordination and strength with their new frame sizes. Everyone loves a big growth spurt, but sometimes it can set a kid back a year or two in his skill development.

They just need to realize it’s OK to have a bad season or two throughout their development. The next phase 17 and up things level out and they can really see some huge strides in skill and ability…if they simply don’t give up during the formative years.

Parents and coaches need to recognize, encourage, and support!
