P.W. 13U - Pitching Analysis

Please help with some advice on my sons pitching mechanics and what he needs to improve on?

#2

When his arm is coming back try to have it go towards his butt more rather than straight down and back. This will help increase velocity and accuracy.

Can a coach comment on these Video Analysis I posted? I need help to improve his mechanics and velocity?

From what I can see, your son looks like he could use some flexibility in those legs, either that or working on staying taller on that leg lift. Your son reminds me of Madisson Bumgardner with the legs and the arm angle. Some stuff need to be addressed in the leg lift and the stride but i feel like the most important part to correct would be right after that. This is your son around front foot plant, at this point, he’s got a lot of good things going on, i would like to see his shoulders even more closed but that’s all stuffs you can fix later. Here’s Bumgardner at around the same place, again, very similar. Here, your son is starting to rotate, his shoulders, nothing abnormal as a matter of fact , very similar to Bumgardner again. WHATS REALLY ODD is the fact that Bumgardner is a side arm pitcher your son gets on a high 3/4 arm slot by the end of his delivery, as if someone told him to “stay on top of the ball” but he got the idea wrong. Your son as 2 options, either he keeps driving up with that sidearm delivery all the way like Bumgardner, or at this time in his delivery he starts dipping his front shoulder and get into 3/4 mode like Aroldis Chapman here to keep his delivery linear for maximum velocity and control https://youtu.be/Gd4v7xhgnLU https://youtu.be/2VevIZlZh5k

Thanks for the input. He would like to throw either “over the top” or “3/4” like Chapman. He doesn’t want to be a “sidearm” pitcher.
