What are you supposed to do during the “off season”? Are you still supposed to run and lift weights, or just take off completely?
I don’t believe in a true “off” season. Off for me is where you are off from practicing certain baseball skills such as pitching and throwing. You should always be working to build muscle and strength while maintaining flexibility. The most off time there should be is about 14 days of allowing the body to recuperate, and I wouldn’t do this often unless you are hurt.
When my pitching coach played for the Rangers he would always take note of what he needed to work on and worked on that in the off-season.
The “off-season” is a good time to condition yourself
for the regular season.
Working on building body strength and flexibility are important things
to do in the off-season.
