Had a pitching session today. Everything went well! My curve-ball breaks, but just straight down not at a curving motion. Throwing some nasty Knuckles and Change ups though!
Curve breaking down is ideal. Late downward movement is harder to hit than similar side to side movement. Down often leads to a miss, chop, or pop, whereas side to side leads more to varying the spray of the hit.
The key to break is the amount of late movement when the batter has committed to the swing.
As the competition improves, they will be able to track the looping curve ball much more effectively.
