How can I make this work?

#1

So I’m a 16 year old sophomore. For life beyond college, I would like to do something in Christian ministry. Most likely be a pastor. But, I also want to play baseball. I do not know how I could make that work because I do not know what I would study in college besides take religious studies classes. There aren’t and Seminary schools that offer college athletics so I’m stuck. Does anybody have any idea how I could achieve both goals?

Here’s an undergrad degree program at St Maryls in So Cal, and they have a pretty decent D1 baseball team.

If I can come up with one off the top of my head, I’m sure there are lots of others, including Notre Dame.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Good luck!

I am pretty sure that Illinois Wesleyan offers both.

Just one I know about, need to look at colleges and universities a little more closely.

Most colleges offer some sort of religion major which from there you could go into the seminary.

Thank you very much every body. I will look into this more and try to find a school that fits both ways.

There are many, many Christian schools where you can play baseball at the same time. Get your undergraduate degree and then move on to seminary for your further education.

Several MLBers such as Ben Zobrist played at schools such as Dallas Baptist University.

Good luck!

As mentioned, Dallas Baptist has a good baseball team. Oral Roberts and Baylor are also good in baseball.

If you want to combine baseball with a mission trip, check with Jerry Jacobson at World Baseball Outreach. They are making trips to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Brazil and possibly Venzaela next summer.

Slewbacca, I would absolutely love to do that. But, I already am going on a mission trip with my youth group at my church (we went to Puerto Rico this past year). But thank you everyone for the replies. I did not put 2 and 2 together that I could go to seminary after college. My bad…

Don’t worry. They go every year. You might call Jerry and he can let you know of their schedule.
