Hitting Improvement

Hey guys,

Just wanting some tips on my hitting. Haven’t hit in a year and have started hitting again.

Here is a video of some dry hacks.

Any help is much appreciated.

It looks like first off you aren’t swinging with a lot of effort.

It’s hard to tell from the angle a lot of things about the swing, it looks pretty decent for not hitting in a year though. You need to really drive those hips though and use your lower body, try to focus on keeping your hands inside the ball as well, try to be quick and compact, it looks like you sweep the bat a little bit.

Good to hear that you’re coming back to baseball after a year. You won’t regret it. I don’t know of a better game than baseball and I don’t know of anything better than hitting.

I understand that swinging with no batting practice is a touch different. I can see that you do indeed have a hitting mechanism to get your weight shifted properly.

I would caution you on opening your hips up too early. You don’t want to open your hips up ahead of your hands because your front shoulder will fly open and you’ll hit the ball on the ground or fly out.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
