I’ve been trying to scap load better while throwing. I have been wildly inconsistent with succeeding in it and my velocity has been all over the place. When my mechanics are good, my fastball can touch 84 mph but on bad days, my fastball tops out at 78. Are there any drills that can help teach me scap loading?
go through your warm ups at low intensity and in semi-slow motion. feel the right movement pattern before ramping up the intensity. Work on gaining consistency. I’m having the same problem, one day I might be 86 straight sidearm the next i’ll be throwing 83 and not realize ive dropped below sidearm. It’s all about consistency and being able to replicate the same feeling in each throw. apply maximum focus to each throw every time you pick up a ball and you should gain consistency pretty soon.
