Going in the wrong direction training wise?

In the past year, I have learned lots about training, yet none about training for baseball, just powerlifting.

I have achieved a 325x3 squat, 210x2 bench, and a 320x5 deadlift in a year. Not bad… but I have yet to see much translation, if any.

I have also neglected all mobility and other things that would actually help me gain velocity.

Can someone help me put together a good program for a pitcher? Mobility and working out? I also think that a LOT of med ball throws would be a great idea. Thoughts?


Check out Steven Ellis’ TUFFCUFF—this is a comprehensive program specifically geared to pitching. It’s available online, or you may be able to purchase it as a regular book; either way, it will instruct you on what you need to do. Also, do a lot of throwing. Many pitching coaches advise throwing every day, even if it’s just playing catch for fifteen or twenty minutes—this will help build your arm strength and flexibility. There’s a lot more, but these are the basics. 8)
