topic name says it all.
I had an interesting talk with the sports physiotherapist who is looking after my son’s shoulder problem. I told her that we’ve been working with the thrower’s 10 exercises for the purposes of strengthening the rotator cuff. Her comment was that this is fine for what it does but that the fact that pitching causes external rotation to go into a range of motion that far exceeds that which the thrower’s 10 exercises get you to, means that these exercises do not sufficiently prepare the rotator cuff for what it will face in pitching activities. It is her contention that you must condition in the range that you will work.
Sounds similar to a certain “guru” out there who recommends pitching as the way to condition for pitching.
