I have recently seen some of his videos about mechanics. His ideas of high velocity with no injury seems great but is anything he says credible? I find it hard to believe anyone with his pitching motion would last very long in the majors or college for that matter.
What I find interesting is the fact that even though Mike Marshall—not to be confused with a journeyman outfielder of the same name—had a career year with the L.A. Dodgers in 1974 he had a pretty miserable won-lost record over the years. When I researched a paper on pitching coaches for a SABR presentation I went out to Zephyrhills, FL to talk to him and see where he was coming from, and after two hours I couldn’t wait to get out of there!
What really turned me off was his insistence that the only way to throw was “over the top” and his outright dismissal of any other ways to throw a pitch as “silly”. So much for him. 8)
