Concerning The Cutter Pitch

I heard that the cutter reduces arm speed, I don’t agree with it for the most part, but just curious as to what you guys think.

Never heard that before. I wouldn’t say the cutter reduces arm speed unless you consciously reduce your arm speed. (Pitchers do actually do that a lot with the change up and curve.) The cutter is essentially a fastball; it’s thrown hard, using a two-seam grip. Just about every big league pitcher who throws it, throws it well into the 90s mph.

And remember you are looking for late movement with the cutter, not big movement.
