Man, does he get hip/shoulder separation or what!

Wow, that’s one electric fastball. And even though the camera angle stunk, you could tell his curveball was cuuuurrvvvinnnggg. And you’re right, Gibson had amazing mechanics and was so flexible and athletic. It’s interesting he was a Harlem Globetrotter! The only question I have is what would have happened if he didn’t fall off the mound so much. Does this mean he could have had more on a 96 mph+ fastball?

BTW, isn’t his birthday today? :dazzler:

Amazing! I wish I was born back then to be able to see him live!

He was incredible. I saw him once when I was about 12 years old at Dodger Stadium. I was too young to remember anything except how great he was and how intimidating he was to batters and teammates.
Mechanically he seems to have a fairly short stride that might account for the falling off. But remember, he won a Gold Glove or two! COuldn’t be all that bad.
He also dropped his glove quite a bit. Much moreso than pitchers of today. Compensated tho!
