Best Way to Maintain Strength Gains?

I’ve been weight training a little over a year and think that I’ve developed a pretty strong base for pitching (a year ago I was pretty unhealthy and weak). So I was wondering what is the best method to simply maintain strength gains when you’re not in a building stage.

I’ve heard that exercises like running work all the muscles in the body. Would this maintain everything I’ve gained without causing me to lose muscle mass? Or would it be better to just do a less intense version of the workout that I already do? Is there anything else that works?

Running wont help you maintain muscle mass. The best option would be to shorten your workouts and include more compound type exercises. If you are active you might be able to get away with 2-3 workouts a week and not lose significant strength or muscle. Everyone is different, though. Some people can maintain longer than others.
