I see some guys who throw have their back leg really come around after release. Is this something to really focus on? Does this occur by just going to the plate hard or by getting the chest over the front knee? Any drills to practice this?
I do it, it’s just from my intent to throw the ball hard.
Just as with the throwing arm during follow-through, what the back leg does after ball release is really a result of everything that happens leading up to it. Therefore, don’t practice it - just let it happen.
Also, he path that the back foot takes will mimic your arm slot. Guys who have a higher arm slot will have their back foot come around in a higher slot. Sidearmers will have their back foot come around in a low slot.
