He must've been taught well.
But he doesn't bring it like me.
Thanks a lot xv. I think that video can really help a lot of guys here out.
well xv, i should have posted this earlier. I've only been payin attention to the burnett thread on here.
Thanks for the .gif, some good stuff there. A good learning tool for me, gotta add it to my collection, assuming its ok with you and jd.
can he throw gyroball?
He turns his body quite a bit. Almost faces second base. JD what are your thoughts on this. I'm not saying anything wrong with it, but how does it help him? Would this add some hip shoulder separation?
I'm not jd, but yes it does. It also gives you more hip rotation because it turns your hips back and they rotate a greater distance.
Also IMO facing 2nd during leg kick gives you a greater chance of being rotational. Props to Andy
Sure you can do what you want dice...No problem there.
No Goggles he doesn't throw a Gyro..he's never attempted nor needed to, he has 4 plus pitches (Well actually I consider his fastball 3 pitches because he cuts and sinks it as well as a 4 seam). But according to him and the Red Shirt who is working with the team as an Asst. Pitching Coach, his sinker has been moving so much that it resembles a screwgie.
Bower, I think he does it (And this is last high school season) to add to his momentum and the leverage which translates to solid shoulder hip sep. We were surprised at the height of his leg kick and the distance off the rubber he gets which is excellent. He really looks different to me and him in slo-motion. xv did an outstanding job and I hope he somehow helps you fellas.
Thanks for the compliment Pirate..you could have hit me on the YouTube channel
This is Andy...jdfromfla's son....thanks for the video, I like pickin out the flaws in my mechs, in which I think I have a nice amount. Im not sure I like the way I fall off, but it never has seemed to have bothered me in the past, ima great fielder if I do say so myself, but I just wanted to say thanks for the vid and thanks for the comments. I like hearing what people have to say about me on this thing, it helps me improve. Oh and to the guy who says I dont bring it like him....well.....that sounds like a challenge, I like a challenge, I mean come on, thats what I live for. And maby I dont bring it like him, but.... hah.... he dont dice em up like I do! Thanks again,
You've been taught well man. Not many people on here, if any at all, will get to experience the things you have. Props to your dad and your coaches throughout the years. All the hard work seems to be paying off.
Hey JD or Andy, how tall are you? You get a ton of rotation, I like flashing my numbers to the hitter, If i can find it ill put the video up of Duaner Sanchez. You could see his whole front body from the camera being the mound
He passed me by around Thanksgiving, he's 6'-6'1" right now .
How hard does he throw?
With potential am I correct JD? You think he can get up higher than that?
I know it. As a matter of fact just yesterday we discussed at length his plans to acheive his goal (mid 90's) by the time we want (End of his sophmore year). He believes following the steps his coach has laid out as well as continuing his conditioning regieme as well as maintaining his diet/weight he'll be 92 by mid season. Guys keep in mind that he isn't solely focused on velocity. He is determined to have a solid HEALTHY season in which he uses his control, speed changes, late movement and yes speed but only as a component of an all around solid year. He feels the experience and dominating at this level while incrementally improving velocity in concert with his body will get him drafted at the right age and give him a more solid possibility of spending less minor league time because the rest of his game will be there with the velo and no injuries. This has been the plan since his grades kept him from D-1, he adjusted and I have to tell ya, I can't see any holes in it, just maintaining desire, discipline within his conditioning and working hard.At the same time, 90 as a college freshman is as solid as it gets, particularly whens its a healthy 90 with a vigorus lively growing arm.
Oh yeah for sure.
I haven't been around for a while, what college is he attending? What happened with the grades!?
Indian River State down in Ft. Pierce, Just missed on the grades. Story is in my log, water under the bridge and all.Glad to have ya back 8)
Yeah well Christmas break, I'm not sure how busy I'll be once I get back into school. Junior year in my school is hard and after sports I usually am working on homework.
