at a tryout for highschool, are coaches looking for a glove popping four seemer or a 2 seemer with some movement? Assuming I hit my spot… which is more impressive to a coach to see.
First of all, you need to have command. That’s the most important. They like to see a fastball (non-specific) with good life (movement I guess) and good velocity. They also like you to have two other good pitches including a breaking ball and an off-speed pitch.
Edit: You said high school. I was thinking more. Hit your spots with decent velocity!
use a 2-seamer.
i throw both…but my two seam has developed into a sinker type pitch so i mainly throw that and i get a lot of ground balls and double plays
