17 year old LHP~ California Smoke

Hey everyone,

Summer is here and so is baseball. Tons of it. Just wanted some intake on a action shot from my last game.

I’m playing for a team called California Smoke, were an 19U team with players across northern California.

Does anyone have any advice on my mechanics??

We’re probably going to need a video clip instead of just a picture to give you advice. Well that’s just me, I don’t know about anyone else.

thats def a cool picture, but not much can be said from it

You need more drive out of your back leg.

You torso needs to be leaned forward at release.

As said, it’s just a picture, and this one is not worth a thousand words.

But he’s not at release yet. The throwing arm is still externally rotated. I think if we could see video from that point forward, we’d see the low back release and the trunk flex forward as the arm whips forward into release.

How can I drive with my back leg more when my stride is already over 6’ and my back foot is about 8~10 inches away from the rubber when i plant?

In all fairness to NJpitcher, we can’t see the rubber in that picture.

Also, your stride may be long enough but do you get out over the front leg and release in front of your front foot?

Post some video and you’ll get more/better feedback.

Here is the most recent video of me throwing.

Comments would be highly appreciated.
