I'm KJeezey and I am making this log because I want to get better. I had been doing something like this on my own but found it hard to keep it up to date. By doing it here, hopefully I'll feel obligated to keep writing once I have people reading mine. In the end, though, I understand this is for me and my improvement as a baseball player and not a bragging outlet (don't have much to brag about anyway, haha).
A little bit about me:
KJeezey - 18 years old. July B-day.
Freshman at a NAIA-II University in Michigan (first year program)
6'3 1/2" - 213lbs
RHP 3/4 Arm Slot
As of Fall Ball, Fastball was 76-77 consistently. I know there's 5mph more in me right now, I'm just not sure how to find it.
Since school started, our coaches have had us working out pretty much 3-4 times a week as a team. We started with an intense (very) band circuit workout. That went on for about 3 months, until Fall Ball ended. Now they have us on a Core Program T-TH, and a Wrist/Forearm-Thrower's 10 program M-W. The only problem is that we do not do ANY lifting. No squats. No bench. No deadlift. I have been pretty interested and self-motivated to look up and research as much information about training as I can, almost 90% coming from this website (centerfield, lefty, griffin, kc, and many others come to mind. Thanks guys!) I know about RFD and the negatives of running (I know it's not that bad, but we waste SOOO much time; ). I have, for the past 4 weeks, been training before or after our team practices to get in what I know I need to do to become a better athlete (WS4SB, once again, thank you centerfield). The only issue I have with that is when I lift after our team workouts, workouts that always end in looong runs or sprints (no breaks between them), or both, my legs are completely wore out (shin splints, tiredness). And when I lift ME or DE lower before a workout, it's tough to have much left for our conditioning at practice. I know it would be nice if the coaches listened to what I had to say and changed the team workouts to fit a more sensible style, but I am fine with doing what I have been doing, just the inconvenience of it, with school and all, it just wears you down after a while.
A rant, I know, but it's nice to finally vent.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Final project due. ME Upper Body. Study Hall. CST (Our team "core" workout, I'll explain tomorrow) Night Class.
Oh, by the way. Outside its freezing rain, with a windchill of 17 deg.
